After looking over our top 10 products and top 10 colours it felt right to choose 10 favourite memories from the last 10 years here at Corn Street from the team at Relics.
Hosting events Since moving, we’ve enjoyed holding more events due to having more space. We have hosted several colour talks including evenings with Farrow & Ball's Patrick O’Donnell, Little Greene's Simon Hutchinson (@the_colourman) who both gave informative talks about using colour in the home. Annie Sloan joined us in person to demonstrate chalk painting techniques and answer audience questions.
London day out Staff day out! We’ve had opportunities for external talks and training too. Sophie, Lee and others joined Farrow & Ball in London for the launch of their "Colour by Nature" palette, developed in collaboration with the Natural History Museum. The team enjoyed their time together in London as well as learning all about the new 16 colour shades from the collection, all created to evoke the natural world. It was also mentioned that the “canapés were top notch”!
Painting the walls Our shop walls are flooded with colour, and it is always fun when we get to paint a section of our shop using products we stock. The team remembers when ‘Caravan (453)’ by Paint & Paper Library went up behind the counter, Kirk couldn't resist adding his own caravan before fully painting the wall in this colour. There is often a shop project going on for the team to get involved in and always a lot of laughter!

Dulux moodboarding Three members of our team were reminiscing attending a Dulux academy colour training in the South-East. They spent the day creating moodboards and learning about how light interacts within a space. There was a focus on exploring the history and meaning of colour as well as the emotional aspects of pairing colours together in a space. Check out some of the creations below!
Elevensies The coffee machine is the hub of our shop and come 11am most days you can find us having a biscuit and little catch up. In the summer months this can sometimes be an ice cream!

The move! Many of the team remember the move to Corn Street well, and loved being involved in getting the building ready and seeing its progress. Kirk recalls: “Seeing the place come together from when we looked around it on day one to opening day when it was all painted, that was pretty good.”
Our customers Another highlight must be our customers! We love serving our customers throughout the day, hearing about their projects, helping them put colour schemes together and mixing up their paint. It’s always such a joy to serve our regular trades customers throughout the week and chatting to people visiting us for the first time.
Socials We’ve enjoyed many socials together including a farewell dinner to a much-loved member of the team. We’ve also shared several Christmas meals together amongst other socials. Just last week we enjoyed a meal out together eating some delicious pies at a local cosy pub in Burford – a benefit of being on the edge of the Cotswolds.

Moving shelves and take out curry Some shop tasks can’t be completed during the day and a few years back a big shop move around was needed. We moved our decorating stock behind the counter to make it more visible including fillers, primers, stain blocks, brush cleaners. The busy evening ended with a take away curry all together which was much needed! The shelves have since been painted in Farrow & Ball's Inchyra Blue in Dead Flat, an extremely tough and durable multi-surface finish.
Working together remotely Our Managing Director recalls working during covid lockdowns as a memorable time period. It was great to see everyone pull together. Some of the team were in the shop, some were working from home and some were out making deliveries. As a business we followed guidelines and ensured we were being safe. “We knew we were operating safely, and supplying paint gave people something to do at home at a time whilst most were stuck indoors.”
