We’re celebrating our 10th anniversary on Corn Street.
We moved to this location (now coined ‘The Old Works’) in April 2016 and this year marks 10 years here. To celebrate and look back check out our teams ‘top 10 products’.
Toupret Wood Filler Although many products come to mind for our Managing Director, Steve, the Toupret wood filler has to be No.1. He notes “It’s just so versatile and so good. It can be used interior and exterior; you can thin it down, sand it and use a damp cloth to get rid of excess even when it is dry. It also sticks to anything”. The images below show Connor using the Toupret Wood Filler for an in-shop project.
Staalmeester Rollers In 2025 we started stocking Staalmeester products. Ella especially loves their rollers describing them as “superrrrr soft”. They give a professional finish to any project.
Arroworthy Classic Angled Brush We are stockists of Arroworthy brushes and these are another favourite of Steve’s. He especially recommends the angled long reach brushes. Steve says: "They are sturdy, give a great line and are suitable for all types of paint. They aren’t scratchy and paint flows out of them exceptionally well". The below images show Steve using the brushes for an at-home project, painting trim for bookcases.
Advanced Satin Our shop manager, Kirk, can’t recommend Benjamin Moore products enough. Their Advanced Satin finish flatten out well and is the toughest paint for cabinets that Benjamin Moore do.
Cards Lee has chosen gift cards as being one of his favourite products. He particularly enjoys the letterpress designs from Archivist Gallery (who also supply us with a fantastic range of strikingly packaged long matches and soaps), noting the craft aspect to their production. Other cards that he covets are the expressive charcoal sketches of animals by local artist, Kath Fotheringham, which contrast wonderfully with the bright and cheerful designs from Tianna Pepe and Wrap.
Guilt Creams We sell lots of unique products for sealing, oiling and finishing projects. Sophie’s favourite is our Liberon gilt creams and gold, silver and copper leaf. Sophie says, “There is something so satisfying and beautiful about these products which have been used for centuries to achieve rich decorative finishes”.
Beeswax finish hardware – From the Anvil Darcy has chosen the handmade products of the From The Anvil range, particularly the Beeswax finish as it is the most authentic finish for steel. She describes the cup handles as beautiful and would suit a cottage kitchen well, especially when paired with other items in the beeswax finish such as cupboard knobs, brackets and latches. Each Anvil item is hand forged from steel, brass and bronze meaning each one is unique.
Dulux Aqua Primer Ella’s favourite is Dulux’ Aqua Primer, an all-in-one, multi-surface, water-based primer, sealer, stain block and undercoat that is also tintable. Ella has been using this on multiple home projects and finds that application is super easy, it dries quickly, and cleans up really easily.
Wonder Wipes – Heavy duty wipes Connor enjoys many DIY projects in his spare time and notes that Wonder Wipes are a favourite of his. These multi-use wipes are perfect for cleaning paint from hands, brushes, metal tools and so much more. They also can be used to remove sealant, oil, grease and adhesives. A great addition to your DIY-box!
Giftware Darcy loves when a new delivery of stationery and giftware items come into stock, especially the Blackwing pencils. We have new bits arriving every few weeks that we love, and know our customers will too.
