Why use Osmo wood finishes?

What is Osmo?

Osmo is a combination of wax and oil – this combination seems to last longer than most ordinary floor oils and is far more hardwearing than a wax. It retains a nice mellow sheen which brings out the natural beauty in the wood.

Why use Osmo?

Osmo is excellent. It has less solvents than most of its competitors; it's based on natural oils and waxes which allow wood to breath; and they are less inclined to yellow the wood. The finishes are water and dirt resistant and protect the wood from daily wear and tear.

What makes it different?

  • Fewer coats than most oils
  • Wide range of coloured finishes
  • Easy to use

How do I apply it?

Most problems associated with Osmo result from over applying. For best results you only need a maximum of 2 thin coats. You can apply with a lint free cloth, brush or microfibre roller.

It sounds expensive...

At first glance it does... it's about twice the price of an ordinary oil. However, the coverage is about double and therefore lasts much longer. Like any good quality product it will cost you less in the long run (we promise).

What else can I use it for?

It was originally designed for flooring but can be used on anything made from wood – for example, furniture and doors. It's safe for use around foodstuffs (ideal on chopping boards and worktops) and is friendly for use on toys.

Is it really that good?

Yes – that's why we stock it!
A maximum of 2 thin coats for a tough, easy-to-apply, long-lasting finish.
